Manager, Three Chopt Recreation Club
Three Chopt Recreation Club, located in Richmond, Virginia, is accepting applications for the Manager position for the 2021 season.
The club opens in mid-May and closes in September. This is a private club and maintained by its members. It is governed by a Board composed of club members. Approximately 400 families are members.
The qualified applicant will perform a variety of duties in planning, scheduling, maintaining the seasonal operation of the club/pool, communication with the Board and members, and above all, have enthusiasm for making the club a safe and fun place for its members.
The Manager has overall responsibility for safety at the pool, as well as managerial, administrative, facility, aquatic, communication, and leadership duties.
The Manager will be responsible to hire and supervise a staff of Certified Lifeguard/Swim Instructors and front gate/concession staff. We are looking for a customer service focused individual who is committed to ensuring a clean, safe, and friendly environment for our members.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Prepares club for opening and closing each season
- Oversee daily maintenance/chemical treatments of the pool, bathhouse/restrooms, and concession area including making recommendations for repairs and capital improvement expenditures
- Plans, directs, and coordinates activities at the club
- Enforce safety rules and specific pool regulations to maintain a safe swimming environment.
- Purchases supplies needed for club operations (including pool chemicals)
- Hire, train, supervise and regularly evaluate a staff of certified Lifeguard/Swim Instructors.
- Oversee staff and operations of concession stand and front gate attendants.
- Ensure pool entrance and scheduling policies are being followed.
- Monitor the entry of individuals to ensure that only members and their guests are entering the property
- Maintain appropriate chemical levels according to Health Department regulations.
- Maintain pool and concession equipment to ensure proper working order.
- Hold pool staff meetings and training as needed.
- Deals effectively and courteously with members and the public
- Administer first aid
- Responsible for scheduling all pool hours and ensuring the pool opens and closes on schedule.
- Attend Board of Director meetings and communicate with board members, provide reports on operations.
- Assist with regular email and social media communications to membership and staff.
- Maintain membership portal for reservations, camps, clinics, events, etc.
- Monitor Facebook messages and manager email inbox and respond or route requests to the appropriate board members
- Provide tours to prospective new members
- Performs other related duties as required
Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Life guard and swim instruction
- Swimming pool administration
- Performance of life saving techniques
- Knowledge of emergency procedures, first aid and CPR
- Knowledge of pool chemistry
- Team leadership and management skills
- Supervisory, time management, communication, and decision making skills
- Ability to maintain control and handle emergency situations
