Why your support matters
Since 1957, TCRC has served families in Richmond’s West End by providing a way to beat the summer heat; a safe place to learn to swim, dive, and play tennis; and a venue to interact with friends and neighbors. Why are places like TCRC so important to preserve? The number of neighborhood/community pools, which provide families with a safe place to play and a chance to learn basic swimming skills, have been in decline across the country in recent decades - the United States is becoming a swimming desert. An older generation’s fond memory of long summers spent at a local pool is becoming foreign for younger Americans. The reason for the decline in local pools is apparent to anyone involved in pool operations: the cost to maintain them and to sta them is very high. It is often more economical to simply shut the pool down, so access to pools is becoming a luxury of the wealthy.
Through the stewardship of resources by our volunteer Board and with the ongoing support of our member families, our club’s goal is to continue to provide those essential opportunities to our community for another seven decades. As a 501c7 non-profit organization, all funds received - whether dues, fees, donations or sponsorships - stay within the club to further its mission and sustain its facilities for future generations.
